Basketball: Frisby and Brownlow through to Melton and Belvoir final

Frisby and Brownlow School pupils will play off in a grand final after topping an area schools basketball tournament.

Schools from across Melton and Belvoir attended the Year 5 and 6 competition which due to high demand was split into two 10-team divisions, involving 182 pupils.

They were supported by leaders from John Ferneley College and Long Field Academy.

Frisby and Brownlow were crowned overall champions, narrowly edging out runners-up Bottesford A and Waltham. The two winners will meet in the final in January to decide who will represent the area in the School Games Super-Series Finals next March.

Spirit of the Games trophies were awarded to Old Dalby and Swallowdale B.

Other schools to compete were Long Clawson, Redmile, Buckminster, Asfordby Captains Close, St Francis, Ab Kettleby A and B, Bottesford B, Swallowdale A, Sherard, Grove A and B, and St Mary’s A and B.

n Melton Kings Basketball Club welcome boys and girls from school Years 4 to 7 to training at John Ferneley College on Saturdays from 9.30am to 10.30am.
