Angling: West grabs Asfordby and Melton match spoils

The weights were down as Asfordby and Melton Society of Anglers fished their latest match on Sunday.

Heavy midweek rain had caused an influx of dirty water turning the club lake a murky brown colour which affected the fishing,

Mick West won from peg 15, fishing pellet on the pole for a mainly carp weight of 13lb 5oz.

Rod Hubbard, on peg nine, took second place with 8lb 5oz, fishing bread also on pole, while a late run of fish gave Paul Clifton a 7lb 11oz haul from peg 21 for third place.

Rob Shuter completed the top four positions, using pole and feeder to take 5lb 4oz from peg one.

The group’s next match is on Sunday, March 5.
