Angling: Haywood lands Lake View double

The Middy angler topped a small field at a low-scoring qualifying match on Saturday when only three anglers had a bite in awful weather conditions.

He then overcame a close challenge from Shaun Butler to take the Sunday open spoils on the lagoon pool with 46lb 1oz.

With Haywood already through to next month’s final, Saturday’s qualifying berth went to Derbyshire angler James Stevenson with just 11lb 5oz.

And ninth place was enough to secure Steve Fisher’s spot at last Wednesday’s match.
