We would particularly welcome nominations for our new Cricketer of the Year award as well as the Sportswoman of the Year and Clubperson of the Year accolades.

This will be the 12th year of the biggest celebration of local sport and achievement, and we expect another cracking line-up of finalists.

We are delighted that experienced TV sports broadcaster, and long-time friend of the awards, Ivan Gaskell, has once again agreed to host the big evening which takes place on Thursday, June 30 at Melton Market’s banqueting suite.

The 10 awards open for nominations are listed bottom right.

Nominations can be made for any level of achievement or endeavour – from grassroots right up to national and international.

They may be a friend or relative, a team-mate or someone you’ve admired through our pages over the last 12 months.

You can nominate by filling in the coupon opposite and returning it to the Melton Times at 49 Nottingham Street, Melton Mowbray, LE13 1NT or through our website at www.meltontimes.co.uk by clicking on the sports awards header at the top of the sport homepage.

Or email your nomination to chris.harby@meltontimes.co.uk along with full details of why they deserve to win, with list of achievements, and a jpeg photo where possible.

Our judges will shortlist three finalists for each award, all of whom will be invited to our awards evening.

They will also pick a winner who will be announced, Oscars-style, on the evening.

It’s a special, inspiring night not to be missed.

The judges will also draw up a shortlist for our two top awards - Sports Personality and Junior Sports Personality - thew winners of which will be decided by your votes.
