A quintet of Pork Pie Plodders travelled east to Cambridge on Sunday to join over 5,000 other runners in the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon.

Every available place was taken up in the popular event, which was set for the first time over a picturesque one-lap looped course which took competitors through the centre of Cambridge.

Runners passed several city landmarks such as King’s College and the Fitzwilliam Museum, before they headed out to Grantchester and then returned to the finish in the city centre.

Despite the chilly conditions, the Plodders were able to take advantage of the dry conditions and predominantly flat course.

First home for the Plodders was Jim Dziemianko, in 1hr 51mins 08 secs.

He was followed in by Gosia Garner in a time of 1:56:34, Emma Machowska 1:57:09, Ed Oles 1:58:47 and, finally, the plucky Andrea Dziemianko 2:18:45.
