Egerton Park, Melton Mowbray, Thorpe Arnold and Frisby cricket clubs have been getting ready for the new season with weekly winter nets and a visit from Nottingham bat maker Gunn & Moore.

Junior players were measured up to make sure they are using the right size and weight of bat and then matched with a blade that suits their level of cricket and style of play.

The visits were organised by Melton Sports.

Owner Michael Cooke said: “Kam Jethwa of GM joined us at two of the net sessions and was able to give players information about the grades of willow used in bat manufacture and how to care for their bats.”

Tim Pedlar, junior team coach at Egerton Park, added: “We had a great turn out to our indoor nets session with the support of both local business and an internationally-renowned equipment manufacturer just added to the wonderful atmosphere.

“It can only help to build to the start of another exciting season for Egerton Park through all the age groups.”
