One of the highlights of the local cricketing calendar returns next week as Knipton plays host to a MCC XI.

The fifth annual Duchess of Rutland XI v MCC match takes place at Belvoir CC’s home ground on Wednesday, organised by the Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust.

So far the series stands at 2-2 so it is all to play for.

In the past the fixture has featured many former England Test cricketers including John Crawley, Graeme Swann, Mike Gatting, Martin Bicknell, John Stephenson, John Emburey and Ashley Giles.

The list of county cricketers to appear includes the Trust director Darren Bicknell, Rob Turner, Darren Cousins, Paul Hutchinson, Matt Windows, Tim Munton, and David Wigley, and it has also featured TV faces such as Anton Du Beke, from Strictly Come Dancing, and BBC sports presenter Chris Hollins.

The match starts at 12.30pm and is free to spectators.
