Mari Smith clocks 800m PB in Birchfield Harriers win
Frisby middle-distance runner Mari Smith continued her excellent start to the track season by clocking a new 800m personal best.
The University of Birmingham student has concentrated her energies largely on the 1500m in recent seasons, and won the prestigious British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) title over the distance last month.
But in her first race over two laps this season, the 20-year-old dipped under 2min 06secs at the UK Women’s League Premier meet at Eton.
Smith clocked 2min 05.94secs to collect her first win for her new club the Birchfield Harriers.
