Barkby United kept their promotion hopes alive with a comfortable victory over Barwell in Division One on Saturday.
After winning the toss, Barkby chose to bat first on a well-worn wicket, and lost the wickets of Ian kirk and Jack Berrisford with only 28 runs on the board.
The Flowers brothers, Tom and Steve, put on 104 for the third wicket with some attractive strokeplay before Steve was caught for 53.
Harby followed without addition to the score, and Drake was adjudged leg before with the score on 160.
Eleven runs later, Tom Flowers was run out for 86, an innings which included four sixes and nine fours.
Phillips, with 21, and Troop (25 not out) saw Barkby close their innings on 224-9.
Barwell’s innings began well with an opening partnership of 60 off 10 overs.
Spinners Rob Townsend and Tom Flowers came into the attack and slowed the scoring rate, Flowers taking a wicket with his fourth ball when opener Ives was trapped lbw.
Flowers took another wicket in his fourth over, bowling Wright before Townsend picked up the vital wicket of Stapleford-Jones for 51, well caught by
Barwell got back into the game as Smith and Norris put on 57 for the fourth wicket, but spinner Drake came into the attack and with a spell of outstanding bowling took four wickets for three runs .
Opening bowler Ian Kirk came back into the attack and claimed the other three wickets to dismiss Barwell for 184 in the 38th over.
