Boots end Melton Seconds’ perfect record after sloppy first half

Second XI East Midlands Premier Division

BOOTS SECOND XI 5 MELTON HC SECOND XI 2

MELTON lost their 100 per cent league record in disappointing fashion against a robust Boots side.

Conceding four goals in the opening 10 minutes effectively ended the hops of the visitors. Melton were awful in the first period and went into the half-time interval with even a draw looking an optimistic result.

Boots received a couple of yellow cards in the second half as Melton piled forward in search of goals. Creed scored twice, one from open play shot and the other from a short corner to leave Boots looking nervous at 4-2.

Dylan Ross then missed a penalty flick in what could have proved an exciting finish, but Boots scored a breakaway goal to seal all the points.

Despite this defeat Melton still top the table.

Melton: P. Taylor, G. Hacking, D. Poyzer, S. Saffhill, J. Smith, D. Garratt, C. Wakefield, A. Perry, J. Creed, D. Ross, S. Willatts, D. Merrison.
