Melton Ladies advance in MoS event with a good away win

Melton Mowbray Golf Club's ladies team are through to round five of the prestigious Mail on Sunday competition following a comfortable victory over Belton Woods Ladies by 3 1/2 to 1 1/2.

The match was played away at the challenging Belton Woods Lakes course.

Melton held their nerve to overcome the home advantage of their opponents.

Winning players were Maureen Stapleford (6 & 4), Sue Hitchman (3 & 2) and Julia Brown (2-up).

Drina Terzza did well to come from behind to halve her game.

l Ladies captain Liz Snow clinched overall victory in the club’s Winners Rosebowl, played for by lady members who have won a medal or trophy competition.

Liz carded a net score of 77 with Liz Clark a close second with 79. Kathie Finn took 3rd place with 83.

Division 1 - Kathie Finn net 82 from runner up Drina Terzza net 83 and Leah Radford net 84; Division 2 - Bettyne Norton net 85, from runner up Ann Creed net 86 and Janet Bentley net 87.

l Melton senior ladies drew a home friendly against Luffenham Heath 2-2.
