Four-year-old Alanah joins the Melton ParkRun community

Alanah Drage became Melton ParkRun's youngest runner when she completed her first circuit of the country park on her fourth birthday.

Dad Ian used to push Alanah around the course in a buggy each week, but had to wait patiently for her birthday before she could register to run for herself.

Her seven-year-old brother Jenson has already completed the course 74 times, while mum Nicola and Gran Val are also regulars.

The Melton branch of the popular national series has enjoyed a leap in numbers over the last 12 months from an average of 120 runners each week to a minimum of 170.

The day’s other notable milestones saw Stilton Striders member Tam Nicol clock a PB on his 50th ParkRun, while Julie Walton also notched up her half-century.
