Three wins out of three for Asfordby Amateurs ladies

ASFORDBY AMATEURS LADIES 5 COSBY UNITED LADIES 1

The floodgates opened in the second half as Asfordby made it three wins out of three in their early season in the Leicestershire Women’s Senior League.

They endured a frustrating first half with just Hannah Green’s great early strike to show for their dominance.

However, Sarah Brown’s excellent left footed finish early in the second half settled any nerves and from then on it was plain sailing.

Jess Nightingale, who had an excellent game, scored the third, while a composed finish from Sarah Milner made it four.

Cosby scored a consolation goal but Nightingale got her well deserved second to make this another comfortable victory.

Asfordby looked irresistible going forward, with the pace of Brown and Green in the wide areas a constant threat, combined with the skill and power of Vicky Smith and Milner up front.

Danielle Sharpe and Sarah Anderson moved the ball really well in midfield and Clare Marlow and Kira Hutton continued their strong partnership in the centre of defence.

This weekend Asfordby travel to Leicester City Women’s Reserves in the county cup.

Amateurs: H Millin, E Roberts, A Roberts, M Reader, T Brookes, K Hutton, C Marlow, P Martin, S Anderson, D Sharpe, J Maguire, H Green, S Brown, V Smith, J Nightingale, S Milner.
