Charities including Cancer Research, Blind Children UK and The Dogs Trust will benefit from a new six-a-side football league which kicks off in Melton later this month.

Leisure Leagues, who run small-sided football competitions across the country, are looking for teams to enter. The weekly league gets under way on Monday, March 21 at Melton Sports Village, off Burton Road.

There is free entry to the league for a limited time. Games cost just £20 and take place between 7pm and 9pm.

Teams will compete for a range of top prizes including custom-made trophies, medals and champagne, and in a unique move, profits from the league will be donated to charity.

Qualified referees will be in charge of the league, and are backed up by a strong discipline structure to ensure games are competitive and fun.

The league is open to all players over 16, male or female, and all equipment is provided.
