Frisby CE Primary School represented Melton at the Leicestershire FA Small Schools finals last week at Leicester City’s training ground.

After playing three group matches and winning all three by 10-2, 1-0 and 1-0 scorelines, Frisby topped their group and progressed to the final.

There they faced The Pochin School, Barkby, who also came into the final with a 100 per cent record from their group matches.

The final was closely contested with both sides coming close to scoring the vital goal on several occasions, but at full-time the game remained goalless.

Extra time followed, but the two teams could still not be separated as both defences worked hard to limit chances on goal for their opponents.

The game was decided by a nerve-jangling penalty shoot-out with The Pochin School running out 5-4 winners.

They Barkby school will go on to represent Leicestershire at the regional finals, in Nottingham, next spring.
