Mowbray Rangers Under 15s returned to winning ways as they faced Birstall for their second meeting of the season,

Rangers controlled the first half, while the midfield duo of Reek and Hibbitt cleared any possible danger.

Mowbray were happy with a goalless first half, knowing the wind and the hill advantage would be in their favour for the second period.

And they posed much more of an attacking threat after the interval, creating many more goalscoring chances, and went ahead when Reek’s shot from just outside the box found the bottom left-hand corner after a good pass from Hirst.

Mowbray scored their second soon after when Clark was pout through one-on-one and put the ball through the keeper’s legs.

Another shot from Clark hit the keeper and was parried into the path of Plowman who squeezed it into the net for 3-0.

Charlie Hirst and Kye Knipe were superb down the right, showing determination to win possession and launch attacks.

Sloppy defence allowed Birstall a consolation, but Seb Cook’s low powerful shot beat the keeper at his near post to cap a very satisfying result.

Rangers: Alexander, Postle, Close, Cragg, Knipe, Patterson, Hibbitt, Reek, Hirst, Plowman, Clark. Subs: Cook, Belcher, Davies.
