On a tight, sloping pitch Rangers expected a tough task breaking down their opponents, but Mowbray stuck to the game plan well, with a tight defence of Ward, Pole, Parker and Phillips-Amyes snuffing out any attacking threat.

Mowbray took a deserved lead when good build-up play allowed Lomas to score with a deflected shot.

With still only a goal to show for their dominance at half-time, Mowbray pushed forward after the break with Hubbard shooting wide and good runs from Hallam coming to nothing.

Mowbray doubled their lead when Brown slotted home from eight yards after confusion in the Oadby box before Brighty rifled home after good work from Finch for 3-0.

Oadby failed to test the well-marshalled defence, only mustering one shot from a free-kick which keeper Bailey calmly watched past the post.

An outstanding response to their cup disappointment.
