The memories flooded back for former Melton footballers as the Old Grammarians held their annual reunion at the Conservative Club.
Former players, officials, supporters, together with former opponents from Midland Woodworkers and Holwell and other local teams from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s enjoyed an evening of nostalgia and reminisces.
There was a special bonus feature this year when David Gildove presented a DVD copy of his home cine-film of the 1969 Leicestershire Senior Cup final to nine members of the OGs team that played in the match.
Organiser Pip Warne then called on Jim Orton, Graham Fuller, Dick West and Brent Horobin to recall their memories of the 15 years the club played in the Melton, Rutland, the Leicester and District, and Leics Senior Leagues more than 50 years ago.
A buffet provided by the Conservative Club catering team was also enjoyed.
Next year’s re-union will mark the 60th anniversary of the reformation of the club back in 1956 and organisers hope to make it a landmark event.
Pip said: “We are hoping for everyone who was a member of the club, or played against us, and their families to come along and help us celebrate.”
