In-form Holwell Sports frustrated as rain ruins EMCL fixtures

Holwell Sports were handed an unwanted break on Saturday when their latest East Midlands Counties League fixture fell victim to the weather.

Manager Simon Daws will have been eager to maintain the momentum after watching his side win two straight matches for the first time since late summer.

But heavy overnight rain cancelled their trip to Graham St Prims, as it did with all but one of Saturday’s programme.

The match has been provisionally re-arranged for Saturday, April 30.

In a quirk of the fixture list, Holwell are also not in action this weekend, but will hope to return next Tuesday when they host Kimberley Miners Welfare at Welby Road (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Nottinghamshire side sit 14th, two places and six points better off than Holwell.

The only match to survive the deluges came in Leicester where Aylestone Park thrashed Arnold Town 6-0 to move up to third place.
