Manager John Webster has spent the close season busily arranging an intensive schedule to sharpen his side ahead of their East Midlands Counties League campaign.

Pre-season gets under way at their Welby Road ground in less than a fortnight on Tuesday, June 27 from 6.30pm, just four days ahead of their opening friendly at home to Saffron Dynamo on Saturday, July 1.

It will be Webster’s first full pre-season with the Asfordby Hill club after taking the reins last summer from Simon Daws, who will return to the EMCL next season as boss of Radcliffe Olympic.

Webster will be supported again by assistant managers Andy Hill, John Wilkinson and Ryan Peacock, and goalkeeping coach Peter Allen.

Holwell finished 16th in the league after an injury-ravaged season and missed out on qualification for next season’s FA Cup.

But they enjoyed success in the knockout format, and reached the final of the County Senior Cup for the first time in 17 years.

The club fielded three sides last season, but their development side, introduced last year, will replace the Reserves side in Division One of the Senior League.

They will be led by joint managers Mick Hawley and Matt Harby.

* The club is looking for a new matchday physio as well as coaches at any level.

Applicants should contact the club secretary Heather Taylor or Webster himself on 07583 228256.
