Asfordby Lions looked to start where they left off from the previous week’s win, but were soon tested as Oadby Owls Eagles went ahead within 10 minutes.
The Lions looked to atone for their lack of concentration and went close when Hill shot wide, but Oadby counter-attacked and doubled their advantage.
Chances went begging until Saffhill released Hill with a deft pass to halve the deficit at 2-1.
But with half-time approaching, Oadby scored again to make it 3-1.
With substitutions made Asfordby started the second half chasing down every ball. Swann’s pass found Hill who shot low into the corner and the comeback was on.
Cook, Jolliffe, Herod and Kelly cleared the danger when Oadby threatened, and Wade was outstanding in goal with many fine saves.
With McCafferty and Swann in midfield supplying the ball to forward trio Harris, Azhashemi and Ladjimi, it wasn’t long before Hill latched onto a through ball to complete his hat-trick and equalise.
Subs Wallis and Gamble tackled strongly, allowing McCafferty to lay the ball through to Hill who put the Lions in front.
Wade again saved the day as Oadby looking certain to score, bravely diving at the forward’s feet to gather, and Hill soon had his fifth after Ladjimi collected the ball on the wing and threaded a pass through.
Oadby were not finished and replied again (5-4), but when Wade pumped a long goalkick out, Hill set off from the halfway line and from an acute angle deftly curled the ball into the far top corner.
A superb game in which every player gave their all.
