Hibbitt double sets up comfortable win for Holwell Sports Reserves

Leics Combination Division One

ROTHLEY IMPS RES 0 HOLWELL SPORTS RES 4

HOLWELL gained their second win of the season aided by four first teamers who scored three of the goals.

The visitors applied plenty of pressure, but couldn’t make it count at first with their notable chance falling to Chris Hibbitt whose far post header from Will Booth’s cross was cleared from under the bar.

But Hibbitt twice got on the scoresheet, firing in from a Levi Fray pass, and then side-footing home a David Hazeldine cut back. Soon after Kieran Foster made it three with a well-struck shot, and minutes later he combined with Booth to set up David Hazeldine to find the net.

With half-time approaching Hazeldine sliced wide from a Foster through ball, and Foster, put through by Dean Randall, lobbed the keeper only to see the ball drift wide.

With the visitors four goals to the good, the second half was rather tepid with Rothley having only one decent chance when a forward turned Stuart Rose inside out and thumped a shot to the far post, but Aaron Watkins leapt across goal and finger-tipped it away for a corner.

For Holwell, Foster could have scored a hat-trick, but twice volleyed shots wide and when he did hit the target, his shot went straight into the keeper’s midriff.

Man-of-the-match was Joe Slater.

Holwell: A. Watkins, D. Randall, S. Rose, J. Slater, M. Clements, L. Underwood (R. Harper), C. Hibbitt, L. Fray, W. Booth, K. Foster, D. Hazeldine.
