Football: Unbeaten Asfordby Amateurs stay top with Leicester win
The visitors started strongly and after some good passing, Evie McDaid found Alice to blast home from close range.
Asfordby continued to play at pace and after good defending by player-of-the-match Ella Wright, the ball found its way to Hope in midfield.

She looped the ball into the box and Asfordby were awarded a penalty when the AFC defender handled in the box. McDaid stepped up and rifled the penalty into the bottom left corner of the goal.
At 2-0 Amateurs looked to be in cruise control, but after some persistent pressure AFC halved the deficit.
Ella and Clara were kept busy defending, but coped well and when top scorer Hope Metcalf broke away she made no mistake in restoring the away team’s two-goal cushion.
Asfordby brought on Lauryn A, Millie, Sophie T and Erin all come on to replace tired legs and an injured Ruby A.

And they all put in very solid performances against strong and resilient opponents.
A corner 15 minutes into the second half saw Leicester pull another goal back to make it 3-2, but Asfordby kept going strongly.
The impressive McDaid broke free of the tiring AFC defence and confirmed the win with Amateurs’ fourth goal to cap a 4-2 away win.
The three points keep the Asfordby girls top and unbeaten in the league.
