MELTON FOXES 11 CARIB WINDWARD 1

MELTON started well, settling quickly into their passing game.

Good determined midfield play from Burt, Blair and Kirk saw Foxes boss possession with Wigley looking for the first goal. But Carib went ahead against the run of play.

This was just the spur Foxes needed with defenders Kay and Bishop and goalkeeper White giving them a solid platform to equalise through Blair. This settled Melton who soon led thanks to Blair’s second and Burt’s first goal.

Foxes looked capable of scoring with every attack as Kirk and Burt won every ball. With quick passing Wigley scored from a well-worked move through midfield before Blair grabbed his hat-trick on the stroke of half-time.

Foxes started the second half at the same pace with Blair grabbing his fourth. The goals came thick and fast with sub Gamble grabbing her first after some gutsy play. White’s accurate goalkicks pushed the team forward, and Wigley scored again before Blair added his fifth.

With Kirk driving forward through midfield and balls raining in on the Carib defence, Gamble got her second before man-of-the-match Blair completed his second hat-trick.

A one-sided match thanks to a great all-round team display, but Carib played throughout with great spirit.
