Asfordby Amateurs kept on the coat-tails of the Senior League promotion chasers, but they were given a real contest in a tight derby clash at Hoby Road.

Holwell Reserves put up a very spirited fight for a side placed second bottom in Division One and with just two wins to their name this season.

Amateurs held a slender 1-0 lead at half-time after Simon Snow broke the deadlock.

Colton restored parity early in the second half for the visitors, but Liam Ambrose put Asfordby back in front.

Asfordby had their chances to put the game to bed, but Bill Wells stunned the home side with a second equaliser.

Former Holwell player Marc Cowling saved the Asfordby blushes when he netted for a 3-2 victory.

The result extended the Amateurs’ unbeaten run to seven and kept them in fifth.
