Asfordby Amateurs capped one of their most successful seasons in recent years with their second presentation evening under managers Will Andrew and Nigel Shaw.

The night kicked off with a friendly match between an Amateurs side and a Wrighty’s XI team with Asfordby coming out on top 3-1. Around 50 players, family members and friends then enjoyed a meal and presentations.

The awards were well spread with the Players’ Player of the Year shared three ways between Ben Lapworth, James Hollis and Alex Purkis.

Top scorer was Liam Ambrose, while Danny O’Brien’s award for hard work went to Aaron Shaw, and the Manager’s Player of the Year was striker Ian Bitmead for his work on and off the pitch.

Will said: “It’s been a great second season for us at Asfordby; we are happy with the progression both on and off the pitch.

“We have built a great squad here, and with a few more additions over the summer we will be pushing towards where we want to be in our three-year plan.”

Asfordby are set to introduce a reserve side for the 2015/16 season and are looking for applicants for the management team as well as players to improve both the First XI and reserves.
