Egerton Park Second XI finished off their season with a very good-natured game against already-promoted Oakham on Saturday.

Arriving in customary end-of-season fancy dress, Park captain Raindeer Tyler won the toss and batted first.

Openers Ronaldo Bates and Robin Hood Burdett made a brisk start, but after both fell in quick succession Rambo Rodenby, Robin Beeken and Round Lees steadied the ship.

Rubic McNeight and Rugrat Moled came and went leaving the stage clear for Rambo Part 2 Lovegrove to smash his first-ever 50 in senior cricket off only 38 balls.

When Robber Woolcock ran himself out and Raindeer Tyler fell for 25 it left Rivers Rivers unbeaten on six as Park closed on 194 all out.

Beeken, Lovegrove, Rodenby, McNeight and the under-used Tyler all claimed wickets, but Oakham chased down the runs in great spirit with both sides thoroughly enjoying the game.

Park: Bates 18, Burdett 27, Lees 4, Rodenby 0, Beeken 12, McNeight 0, Lovegrove 58, Moled 10, Tyler 25, Woolcock 0, Rivers 6, Extras 34. Total: 194.
