Eaton Stampede attracts record entry

The field of 82 included a broad age range from under 6s through to seniors, all lining up to tackle this popular charity race.

A tough course, which runs through some beautiful scenery on the edge of the Vale of Belvoir, included obstacles such as the infamous iron ladder near Branston.

Despite recent rain, the competitors, who could choose either a 5km or 10km challenge, enjoyed good underfoot conditions for much of the way, and recorded some impressive times.

The event, sponsored by Wareing Waste, raised funds for Dove Cottage Day Hospice and Eaton’s Community Park.

Rob Jackson took the honours in the men’s race over 10km with Adrian Gloss doing likewise in the 5km version.

Katie Hateley was first lady back over 10km, while Becky Hourihan took the 5km prize.

Charlie Neece and Thomas Sheppard shared the 10km youth prize, and in the 5km race, Sam Shields won the youth age category and Ewan Hourihan claimed the under 12s prize.
