On winning the toss, captain Richard Randall decided to stick with the formula which worked so well in the semi-final against Belvoir and batted first on a tricky wicket at Park.

Randall played a key part in the innings as all the other batsman worked around him to score runs as he kept one end secure.

Kingsley Miller top scored with 27, well supported by Sam Woods (25), but when Randall was out for 17 in the 17th over the skipper had done his job and Thorpe had reached 132 from their 20 overs which looked a decent score on the wicket.

Tom Glover was the pick of the Park attack, picking up 3 for 15 from his four overs, while Tom Barnard took 2 for 6 from his solitary over.

Man-of-the-match Chris Waldron then destroyed any hopes of a good start to the reply by taking a sensation three-wicket maiden in a dramatic first over to stun the hosts.

Bowling from the other end, 15-year-old Andrew Jones also took three wickets in his four overs as Park were reduced to 36-8 at the halfway mark of their innings.

Gallagher Plowman picked up two wickets in an excellent all-round bowling display, backed up by superb fielding.
