Team-mates and friends to celebrate life of cricketer Paul '˜Chunk' Lawrence

A fundraising match and party is to be held next week to celebrate the life of popular cricketer Paul '˜Chunk' Lawrence.

Billesdon CC are hosting a Tilton CC side for Chunk’s All Star T20 Big Bash on Friday, June 10 to mark the 10th anniversary of his passing, aged just 39.

Chunk, Cricketer of the Year at the Melton Times Sports Awards in 2005, was a big-hitting batsman who plied his trade for several village sides including Tilton, Pickwell and Billesdon.

The evening will kick off at 6pm at Billesdon’s ground, in Coplow Lane, and organisers would like to see plenty of faces, old and new.

There will be a bar, barbecue, live music and a raffle with all money raised to be split between Loros and Billesdon CC.
