Chilwell elected to bat first on a firm, but uneven surface and were soon reduced to 46-4 with opening bowler Harry Wells taking 3 for 26.

He was well backed up by Steve Harrison (1 for 27), and Luke Harrison (1 for 24).

The middle order put up some resistance, but the introduction of Angus Wilborne (1 for 39) and Ross Wild slowed the rate down and the home team could only muster 140 by the end of their allotted overs.

With rain threatening, the Dalby openers wasted no time in ensuring victory and knocked off the required runs without loss in only 20 overs to clinch promotion.

Harrison (76 not out) and Wells (57 not out) showed the bowlers no mercy, finishing off with 16 overs to spare.

It has been an exceptionally good year for the small village club whose midweek Burrough League team also joined their clubmates in finishing in the top two.

Chilwell: 140-6.

Bowling: H. Wells 9-2-26-3, S. Harrison 9-0-27-1, L. Harrison 7-1-24-1, A. Wilborne 4-0-39-1, R. Wild 7-1-21-0.

Great Dalby: H. Wells 57*, L. Harrison 76*, Extras 8. Total: 141-0.
