South Notts Cricket League: Great Dalby strengthen promotion bid

Great Dalby consolidated their position for an automatic promotion place in Division L with a comfortable win against Underwood on Saturday.

Underwood batted first and the home team seemed to be heading for a big score as they moved swiftly to 88-0.

But the introduction of Luke Harrison (6 for 30) and some smart catching from James Rowell and Mark Child put the hosts under pressure.

Ross Wild (3 for 8) removed the tail as Underwood were bowled out for 149.

Dalby also made a quick start and openers Child and Harrison had put on 72 for the first wicket when the latter was caught for 35.

The visitors were then reduced to 109-5, but skipper Jamie Picker hit a quickfire 26, and along with Child (64 not out), saw Dalby home with 22 overs to spare.
