National Village Cup: Renwick steers Thorpe Arnold to round three

Alex Renwick's unbeaten century helped Thorpe Arnold into the third round of the Davidstow National Village Cup on Sunday.

The opener carried his bat for 136 not out as Thorpe saw off Lubenham by 58 runs to book a third round clash with Newtown Linford on Sunday, May 29.

Renwick was well supported by Charlie Read, who was run out for 25, an Lewis Perry who made an unbeaten 39 as the hosts racked up 229-2 from their 40 overs.

Lubenham’s top order all made starts with Whitehouse top scoring with 32 and opener Bradshaw making 30 before being caught behind by Andy Sibun off the bowling of George Exton (3 for 34).

H. Newton (3 for 48) and J. Hirst (3 for 37) also made inroads into the visitors’ reply before Renwick capped his day by wrapping up the Lubenham innings for 171 with his second ball in the 37th over.
