In-form Knossington secure back-to-back wins

Batting first they were progressing solidly when Harris (32) was caught in the 12th over with the score on 56.

Fellow opener Renwick continued to bat confidently despite two quick wickets at the other end signalling a potential collapse.

The storm was weathered when Lewis Barnett joined Renwick and they scored freely until Renwick finally fell for a classy 84.

Lewis Marsh and Barnett continued to attack, Barnett eventually being run out for 36, but Marsh (237 not out) and skipper Greaves (5 not out) saw out the overs as Knoss closed on 221-5 from 35 overs.

Knight and D. Thorpe opened the bowling, and the former broke through in the first over as Turner took the catch at mid-on.

From that point the Shilton batsmen started to build a useful reply and reached 62 without further loss until S. Thorpe took a good catch, again off Knight (2 for 32).

This loss didn’t appear to worry the hosts who continued to bat positively, but good work in the field, especially from Dave Barnett, meant they were made to work for their runs.

Marsh (2 for 30) and Turner (1 for 45) took crucial wickets, but the Shilton skipper was still scoring quickly even though the rate had crept up to 11-an-over with only nine to go.

Greaves (1 for 15) eventually had him caught on the mid-wicket boundary by Harris (1 for 5) and the chase was soon over as Shilton finished on 167-7.

* The previous Sunday Knossington made the short trip to Great Dalby for a match where the bat dominated throughout.

Dalby elected to bat first and set the daunting total of 224-7, J. Picker contributing with a splendid unbeaten 101.

Knoss used six bowlers, the wicket-takers being Thorpe (2 for 32), Harris (3 for 43) and Dave Turner (1 for 27).

The run chase saw solid efforts down the scorecard as Harris (31), Sibson (40), Kimm (41), Greaves (21) and Dave Turner (46 not out) all made valuable contributions.

Knoss reached their target with two overs and four wickets to spare, Turner winning it with a big six.
