Honours even as Knossington CC tour Dorset

On Sunday they visited Martinstown where the home skipper elected to field first.

Renwick and Beard opened, but with only three on the board, Beard was caught at backward square, which brought Harris to the crease. He and Renwick started to build a big partnership which eventually ended when Renwick was dismissed for a fluent 73.

Harris continued to attack the bowling with the support of Kimm (8) and Marsh (3 not out) to end the innings unbeaten on 91, as Knossington posted 197 off 35 overs.

In true tour spirit, Knoss used eight bowlers when defending the total. Goodwin and Bilson took two wickets each, and Knight, Thorpe, Marsh and Turner chipped in with one apiece as they contained the hosts to 144-8 in reply.

Monday saw them travel to Cerne Valley where they were asked to field first. The excesses of touring and the talented Cerne batsmen played havoc with the bowling, only Knight and Thorpe being relatively economical yet remaining wicket-less.

Turner, Renwick, Marsh and Harris took one apiece as Cerne amassed 249-4 from 40 overs, their opening batsman, a Dorset county player, carrying his bat for a splendid 143.

In reply, Knoss put up a good effort but the total proved beyond them. Renwick led the way with 48, well supported by the other batsmen, including Marsh (24) and Goodwin (23) as they finished on 184-8 to cap a great tour.
