Asked to bat first in damp conditions, the hosts lost the two old stagers Tyler and Bailey early on.

But good knocks from Jeary (28), Harris (36), Marshall (21) and the back-to-form Mold (36) saw them post a solid total of 175 at tea.

Blaby started well in their reply, but the introduction of Barber had an instant effect as he struck with his first ball.

Two good partnerships followed until Rivers’ second spell claimed two quick wickets. And when all-rounder Mold had Doyle caught, followed by an outstanding run-out, Park looked like taking all 30 points.

But they couldn’t break down the tail and had to settle for a winning draw and a 17-point haul as Blaby closed on 144-7.

* Park’s First XI were frustrated by the weather on Saturday as a waterlogged pitch saw their match at Ibstock abandoned without a ball bowled.

With this being the only game in Division Two to fall foul of the weather, the Melton side lost ground on the teams surrounding them and slipped to fourth.

They are now 24 points behind second-placed Oakham who are the visitors on Saturday as Park stage their annual Past Players and Members Lunch.

The match gets under way at 1pm.
