SUNDAY, 10am: Melton RFC Under 16s final appearance of the season proved a success, taking the Loughborough Festival by storm.
Their first group match was against West Bridgford who took an early lead as Melton started slowly.

But once in full flow, tries from Norgate, Harris, McNally-Reilly, Lyne and Badham made them convincing 35-7 winners.

Melton really opened up against Loughborough. Four tries from Rennie, two each from McNally-Reilly and Lyne were capped by Norgate who completed a 59-0 win.

A similar scoreline followed against Stratton Forwards. A brace of tries from Rennie, Ward and Fielding came allied to further scores from Eggleston, Williams, McNally-Reilly and Lyne for a 62-0 rout.

The final group match was against school side De Lisle who proved much tougher opponents.

A score in each half from scrum-half Norgate laid a good platform for Melton who became sucked into a more physical brawling game, losing some of their shape. De Lisle scored late in the game, but Melton took the match 14-7.

The semi-final saw Melton paired with Stratton Backs. McNally-Reilly, Norgate and Williams provided scores before half-time with one in reply to provide a comfortable cushion.

Melton then moved on with scores from Rennie, Norgate, and Badham sealing a 36-7 victory.

The final brought a rematch with De Lisle, Melton knowing they had to stick to intelligent, flowing rugby.

Eggleston bagged two early scores with one in reply before half-time. Second half tries from McNally-Reilly and Rennie helped Melton extend their lead before De Lisle responded with a score.

Norgate's final try was enough to edge out De Lisle who added a consolation try on the final whistle as Melton took it 27-17.

A truly great squad display and a fitting end to a magnificent season.

Melton: Badham, Eggleston, Fielding, Harris, Heaver, Lyne, McNally-Reilly, Norgate, Rennie, Ward, Williams.
