TUESDAY, 2pm: Melton Mowbray CC continued their excellent start to the season with another convincing victory over Langtons at Saxby Road.

Skipper Kev Thorpe asked the visitors to bat and Redwood and Stevenson soon had the batsmen in trouble.

Wickets fell at various intervals as Stevenson (3-73 from 17 overs) and Redwood (6-29) who bowled unchanged to dismiss Langtons for 126 in 44 overs.

Experienced skipper Thorpe marshalled his troops superbly and collected the final wicket and maximum bowling points for Melton.

After tea, batting appeared easier with Malc Brown (21), Steve Taylor (24) and Ben Redwood (34) scoring the bulk of the runs.

Melton reached their victory total in 37 overs to keep them top of Division Five.

Langtons: 126.

Bowling: Redwood 22-9-29-6, Stevenson 17-1-73-3, K. Thorpe 5-1-17-1.

Melton: Brown 21, A Thorpe 0, Taylor 24, Ruddle 0, Redwood 34, Hurrell 0, Stevenson 10*, Bills 6*, Extras 32. Total: 127-6.
