FRIDAY, 11am: A quartet of Stilton Striders competed in the fourth race of the Derby Runner Cross Country League at Grace Dieu School, Shepshed.
The five-and-a-half-mile course was very undulating and run over fields and through a wood, also passing through a stream twice.
First Strider in was Steve Dewick, 105th in 42min 03secs from Phil Douglas, 139th in 43.53, who also stopped to have a wash at the second water crossing after a stumble in the woods.
A strong run saw Vicki Lowe finish 24th in the ladies' race and eighth vet lady in 45.26 and Kirsty Ainscough was 38th lady in 48.04 after a total of 312 runners, 214 men and 98 women.
Sunday is the second Leicestershire Winter League race at Markfield, all members running to meet at the bus park at 9am.
