FRIDAY, 4.30pm: Asfordby Amateurs suffered their first league defeat against physical opponents, but the scoreline was scant reward for some fine flowing football.
Leics Under 13s Division Three
ASFORDBY AMATEURS 1 BIRSTALL UNITED 5

Birstall struck within minutes through their strong forward, but Asfordby dominated possession for long periods. Thorpe's lob over the advancing keeper drifted wide and minutes later he shot wide.

Asfordby conceded moments after half-time, but replied immediately when Thorpe swivelled and shot home. Birstall doubled their lead before Burgoyne's fine angled drive was tipped round the post.

Good work from Knatt and Harrison created moves down the flanks where Fetzko caused problems, but Asfordby conceded two soft goals.

Amateurs: A. Hall, S. Wright, E. Birch, D. Sharpley, R. Purkis, W. Knatt, E. Harrison, A. Brown, J. Burgoyne, S. Thorpe, E. Thompson, B. Fetzko, M. Joslin, J. Wright.

MELTON FOXES 2009 2 COUNTESTHOPE ATH 2
A DRAW seemed like a defeat for Melton after sustained pressure from kick-off.

Strikes from Henry Newton, George Boddy, Tom McDonald and Jordan Woolcock all went close, while man-of-the-match Patrick Geraghty headed over Woolcock's corner.

Countesthorpe went ahead on 21 minutes before Geraghty made amends six minutes later, tapping in Woolcock's cross.

The second half began with continued Foxes pressure, Newton and James Scatchard failing to convert chances. Again Countesthorpe scored on the break, but Newton scored a brilliant equaliser on the stroke of full-time.

Foxes: M. La-Barbera, A. Pekron, P. Geraghty, J. Scatchard (c), H. Newton, J. Woolcock, T. McDonald, G. Boddy, J. Partridge, C. McGuire, M. Saxby. Subs: M. Pope, B. Farmer, C. Grange, G. Mousley.

MOWBRAY RANGERS 3 GROBY 1
RANGERS came back from behind with second half goals from man-of-the-match Matt Lowe and Luke Jane.

Thomas Harris went close several times, but the keeper saved well before Thomas Woods turned the ball round the post as Groby threatened.

Groby scored against the run of play. Harris nearly equalised after good play by Lowe and Jay Knipe.

Lowe volleyed in Lewis Sampson's corner to equalise and scored his second from a direct free kick. Groby responded, but defenders Newby, Duce, Beattie and Skeels were in solid form.

Hyde and Lowe combined to set up Jane who made the game safe.

Rangers: T. Woods, K. Newby, S. Duce, R. Beattie, T. Young, M. Lowe, L. Sampson, L. Hyde, T. Harris, L. Jane, O. Skeels. Subs: J. Anderson, R. Burrows.

ASFORDBY LIONS 1 RATBY 1
ASFORDBY started well with Kieran Doody firing wide, while Ben Challis saved at the other end.

Asfordby's defence was solid, Harrison Challis making great last-ditch tackles. William Monk and Reece Woods, supported by Jimmy Fuller, Charlie Harris and Doody pressured without breaking through.

Ratby went ahead when a floating ball was headed over the advancing Challis.

After half-time the midfield of Josh Leach, Fuller and Harris did well. Fuller's free kick was fired over before Challis was forced to save.

Charlie Harris equalised after cleverly rounding the keeper, and good play set up Craig Kearney, but his last-ditch shot went over.

Amateurs: B. Challis, R. Woods, G. Barker, J. Fuller (c), J. Leach, C. Harris, H. Challis, E. Giblett, K. Doody, H. Marchington, S. Dawe, W. Monk, C. Kearney, S. O'Neill.

AYLESTONE PARK 1 MELTON FOXES 4
FOXES had to endure a small pitch with a slope.

Aylestone took control when a great pull back was guided home by the striker. Foxes had chances with Griffin hitting the post and 10 minutes before half-time Thurley equalised.

The striker then unleashed a superb shot to give Foxes the advantage.
Foxes dominated the second half with Heathcote's tremendous effort hitting the bar and Young and Read outstanding in defence.

Griffin's great effort was parried by the keeper and Heathcote slotted in. Rushton ran through and hit the bar before sub Tyler coolly finished for his first goal for the club.

Foxes: Anderson, Williamson, Read, Young, Allen, Griffin, Konarski, Heathcote, Henfrey, Rushton, Thurley, Newton, Tyler.

Leics Under 11s Division Two
MELTON FOXES 1 AYLESTONE PARK 8
AYLESTONE gave Foxes a counter-attacking masterclass.

A deflection put Park ahead before Carroll and Birkinshaw had half-chances. Aylestone added a second from another deflection before a great solo third.

Keeper Hourd made a great save only for a fourth to follow before half-time.

It was 5-0 soon after half-time, but then Melton produced their best spell. Man-of-the-match Carroll's persistence was rewarded when Horobin sent him on a great solo run to crash the ball home off the bar.

Birkinshaw nearly added a second, but Aylestone showed their quality, despite good man-marking from Ainge, Cotterill and Pratley, and added four more.

Foxes: O. Hourd, G. Kay, C. Pratley, C. Ainge, L. Dawson, A. Horobin, D. Wait, D. Smith (c), C. Hamer-Robson, M. Archer, J. Birkinshaw, O. McDonald, B. Carroll, B. Cotterill.

RAVENSTONE 5 MOWBRAY RANGERS 2
RANGERS lost out to the well-organised league leaders.

Ravenstone were two-up after 20 minutes, the second when a cross was flicked in by Barnard for an own goal. Rangers were three down by half-time after a goalmouth scramble.

Rangers started the second half with three men around central defender Howard, and looked more dangerous. Skerritt and Cragg forced saves, but against the run of play, Ravenstone made it 4-0 after keeper Thorn's rare slip.

Cragg put Mayes through to score as Rangers pressed, but from another break Ravenstone scored their fifth. Rangers had the final say when Mayes' turned in Cragg's cross.

Rangers: J. Thorn, L. Hill, J. Barnard, J. Howard, B. Wilkinson, K. Jones, J. Mogg, A. Walker, R. Cragg (c), S. Cleworth, H. Mayes. Subs (used): G. Wilkinson, C. Skerritt.
