SATURDAY, 1pm: There was double gold for Bottesford's Callum Jones rowing with Newark Rowing Club at York City Regatta last weekend.
Racing over a 1km course on the River Ouse, Callum (pictured) teamed up with Dominic Parnell in the coxless pairs and they won both semi-final and final against Doncaster pairs.

In the coxed quad with Jake Bull, George Greenfield and Tom Selby, and Parnell coxing, Jones rowed to beat Cambois (Northumberland) in the semi-final, and in a keenly-contested final, won by three lengths against Yarm School (Durham), one of the best northern quad teams.

Rowing is a sport which demands a high level of fitness, demonstrated to the full when Jones climbed out of one boat and ran along the river bank to jump straight into another boat for the next race.
