SATURDAY, 3pm: Darts tournament organiser and Asfordby Darts League player Hugh Asher came face to face with 15-time world champion Phil 'The Power' Taylor.
Hugh, from Barkby, will be missing from the local darts scene for the next few months as he goes into hospital to have a leg amputation.

While watching a PDC Players' Championship tournament at Derby, he met Taylor, plus BDO World Darts Championship finalist Simon Whitlock.

Hugh said: "I have been boosted by the number of people who have enquired about my well-being.

"At Derby, Phil took time out to speak to me about my forthcoming operation and wished me all the best for the future."

Hugh plays for Division One leaders, The Crown Inn, Asfordby, who are top of the division, and as a qualified cricket umpire regularly officiates for Barkby Uniited CC, but will miss most of next season.

Hugh watched Taylor win again, beating Terry Jenkins 6-1 in the final to win the £6,000 prize.
