Murdoch helps Egerton Park Under 17s past Thorpe

THURSDAY, 3pm: Egerton Park U17s began their league season with an easy victory over their local rivals Thorpe.
NE Leics Under 17s League
EGERTON PARK v THORPE ARNOLD
Park won by 60 runs

Jonny Murdoch, with an unbeaten 85, saw Park to a commanding 134-2 off their 18 overs.

Thorpe lost wickets at regular intervals with Tom Glover, Jack Maddocks, Jack Harris and Will Parry all taking two wickets.

EPCC: J. Murdoch 85*, J. Harris 8, W. Parry 11, J. Moncrieff 19*, Extras 11. Total: 134-2.

Thorpe: 74-9.

CROWN HILLS v OLD DALBY
Old Dalby won by 17 runs

OLD Dalby CC Under 15s continued their winning ways in their first league match to make it four victories out of four.

Dalby batted first and racked up 105-4 off 16 overs, Matt Howard making 22, Hedley Lovegrove 35 and new boy Joe Brown hitting a tidy 20.

Dalby's bowling figures were just as tidy with captain Ryan Beeforth taking 4-21 off four overs. Tony Woodcock's slow bowling caught them off guard, with 3-14 off three overs.

The fielding was very sharp with wicketkeeper Harry Pryor taking two good catches and Chris Godsmark, Louis Potts, Tom Allen and Hedley Lovegrove all taking catches to dismiss Crown Hills for 88.

EGERTON PARK v SOAR VALLEY STROLLERS
Park won by 12 runs

PARK suffered their first defeat of the season in a game played at Frisby because of the Melton Show.

Park's fielding and bowling was below standard as Soar Valley scored 112-5, aided by 42 extras.

The hosts' reply began well with a partnership of 40 between Harry Jinks (12) and Leo Stannard (25 retd) setting the late order up for some big hitting.

Paul Bara (14) and James Chester (9) nearly saw Park home, but they fell 12 runs short and where left to rue their poor fielding.

Soar Valley: 112-5.

BARKBY v EGERTON PARK
Park won by 17 runs

EGERTON Park continued their winning run with an excellent performance at Barkby.

Park set 270 with partnerships of 14 between Ben Burrows and Josh Blunt, 21 between Charlie Reed and Ben Tyler, 10 from Jack Anderson and Tom Haynes, and 25 between Jack Griffen and Joe Barnard.

A combination of outstanding bowling and superb catching saw Barkby restricted to 253 as Park won again.
