TUESDAY, 4pm: In almost perfect race conditions at their Sproxton track, Oakham Motocross Club celebrated 30 years of off-road motorcycle racing.
Over 50 current members from the Rutland, Grantham and Melton areas were joined by 30 past members at the meeting which also hosted a round of the Amateur Motorcycling Association Veteran's Championships for riders 35 years and older.

In the local club classes Melton's Nick Gray shone in the under 14s with two wins and a third place, ahead of Shaun Yaxley.

Ben Parsons pipped Mitch Nichols in the very competitive class for older riders of junior ranking, while Oakham-based Tom Gilbert nudged himself just ahead of Melton's Luke Knight in the class for senior standard older riders.

Injury prone Ryan Pridmore powered home in the expert class with two wins and a third place to coast home from runner-up Chris Rose.

The special class for over 45s of age class was dominated by Melton riders with David Holland beating his friend Ross Marshall by just two points, despite 48 year old Ross' last race win.

Andrew Horsefield was third ahead of super fit 52-year-old Dave Wescomb and fourth-placed Simon Thornton who won race one. Peter Baker was sixth after suffering bike problems.

The 30 to 45 years class saw former National Championship rider Mark Joyce take all three races from Andy Nourish.

In the Amateur Motorcycling Association Veterans' class Coalville's Chris Wainwright used his local track knowledge to his advantage with three wins against very strong opposition.

Marc Spencer, from Stafford, managed a splendid second place overall ahead of Jim Shand, from Stourbridge.
