Division Two
EGERTON PARK v LUTTERWORTH TOWN
Lutterworth won by 2 wkts
A VERY close game which came down to the last over saw Park miss out on their first win of the season.
Park were put into bat after losing the toss and openers Tubb and Murdoch got the innings off to a good start. But Tubb and Taylor fell in succession to put Park in trouble.
The change bowlers made scoring hard for Murdoch and Tyler (27), but both batsmen worked hard to protect their wickets. When Murdoch was finally bowled for 37, Nick Newman came to the crease and quickly set about upping the run rate with some lusty blows.
After Tyler was dismissed more big hitting from Potter (17) and youngster Collington (17) saw Park total 175 for 6 from their 45 overs.
The Lutterworth openers found scoring hard against brilliant opening spells from Gary Potter and Jack Berry and things got worse when Berry claimed the first wicket.
Lutterworth's number two and three compiled a good partnership to steady the innings and slowly upped the run rate. But Taylor came on, bowling a brilliant spell to restrict the scoring.
Park claimed two quick wickets through Newman and Hunt, and with the re-introduction of Potter and Berry, Lutterworth collapsed to 170 for 8, with two overs left.
But the visitors went on to hit the winning runs with three balls to spare.
