Asfordby's young side continued to make some progress in some areas, although more experience and maturity are still needed.

Ashby went ahead midway through the first half as a well-taken shot beat keeper Pat Riddell after Danny Swin's mis-kick let the attacker in.

The second saw a ball played into the middle where the striker had plenty of time to control and place the ball into the corner of the net with home defenders failing to close him down.

A tremendous Asfordby shot was tipped over for a corner while Simon Baker blocked a shot on the stroke of half-time as Asfordby retained a fighting chance for the second half.

The second half was less than 10 minutes old when Ashby increased their lead, the defence again failing to close down.

Riddell was called on to make two good saves before Asfordby had their best chance of the half.

Good work by Stan Wallis down the left brought a pass inside to Graham Bowler.
He found Tom Kirkpatrick in the centre who shot wide with defenders closing him down quickly.

Ashby's fourth was a skilful goal when sweeper Baker was beaten. Ashby added four goals in the last quarter, all but one defendable.
