WEDNESDAY, 11am: Following his success at the World Special Olympics in China this time last year, Jeffrey Jarvis was once again busy winning medals.
First up for the Melton player was Bournemouth's Special Olympics Table Tennis Competition.

In the singles beat two female players from Wolverhampton without dropping a game and then defeated another Wolverhampton player after a five-game match.

But he was beaten by Adam Thompson, from Manchester, and after a marathon match against Trevor Percival, from the Isle of Wight, beat him to the bronze medal. In the doubles he partnered Adam Thompson to the gold medal without losing a game.

Last weekend at Crewe he competed in the Mencap Grand Prix table tennis tournament, one of the few national competitions where the learning disabled play against physically disabled players.

In the class singles, he was knocked out in the semi-finals by Adam Thompson to meet a Sunderland player in the third/fourth play-off which he won in three straight games.

In the doubles, he again partnered Adam, this time to silver. They won their group without dropping a game and beat a Sunderland pair in their semi-final before losing the final 3-11, 8-11, 4-11 against Chris Cattell and Jason Evans, two of the top physically disabled players in the country.

In the open competition, he was second in the group to Chris Cattell to set up a quarter-final meeting with Jason Evans where he lost 10-12, 7-11, 10-12 after a very close match.

Jeffrey is set for Spain where he competes in the European INAS-FID Table Tennis Tournament.
