THURSDAY, noon: Holwell Rifle Club shooter Hannah Polak was in superb form again at the British Junior International meeting at Bisley.
The meeting pitted junior shooters from the home nations against each other in all the small-bore and air rifle disciplines with a 60-strong South African contingent also involved.

The timing of the event was not ideal for the Wymeswold shooter coming on the back of a scheduled three-week training break.

But she still achieved fourth place in the individual air pistol match with the highest score of the English team of 367, just two points behind eventual winner Catriona McGregor, of Scotland.

The 25-metre sport pistol match came next being shot with an air pistol rather than cartridge pistol.

The match featured two sections, the 30-shot precision section and the duel phase where each shot has to be fired in only three seconds.

Hannah's precision section scored 91, 89, 93 for a respectable total of 273, but in the rapid section she left the entire field behind with superb shooting of 96, 99 and 97 for a magnificent 292.

This put her 12 points clear of the next score in that section, a 280 by Scotland's Jess Lidden.

Hannah's total of 565 gave her a comfortable win, seven points clear of runner-up Danielle Jones, shooting in the GB2 team.

Hannah is now due to meet the Great Britain head coach to finalise her competition programme for the remainder of the year.
