MONDAY, 4pm: Rugby heroes turned out to inspire the stars of tomorrow at two presentation nights for Melton RFC's younger members last weekend.
The inspirational Matt Hampson, paralysed from the neck down after an on-field accident while training with England Under 21s in 2005, was star guest, flanked by Leicester Tigers clubmate and friend Matt Cornwell who gave out the honours at the minis awards night on Friday.
Matt donated a signed Tigers shirt which was auctioned.
Former Samoa international Mike Umaga did the honours the following night at the junior awards presentation.
A raffle was held on both nights with the prize of £150 of kit from the Melton RFC club shop, donated by sponsors.
On Saturday night a photo of Johnny Wilkinson's famous last-gasp drop goal which won the 2003 World Cup was auctioned to add to the coffers.
The committee would like to thank all guests, players, parents and sponsors for a fantastic turnout on both nights.
The final fundraising event for the Matt Hampson Trust is on Sunday with the parents and coaches games at the club.
