THURSDAY, 4pm: A fantastic County League game at the Park saw the second XI edge home by just three runs.
Division Six
EGERTON PARK SECOND XI v HINCKLEY AMATEURS SECOND XI
Park won by 3 runs
Park elected to bat first, and Greg Tyler and Eddie Cham put on 49 for the first wicket in 11 overs before Tyler was bowled.
Cham followed quickly, but young Johnny Murdoch held the innings together as wickets tumbled around him.
Kamal Panchal made a rapid 24 before Park were bowled out in the last over for 157.
Ben Hunt took two wickets in his second over, and almost had a third as skipper David Glover put down a tough chance at second slip.
With Hinckley seemingly cruising to victory at 80-2, Glover brought himself on and turned the game with three wickets in his first five overs for only six runs.
Andrew Orridge bowled well without success, as the game swung back in Hinckley's favour with 30 needed from 11 overs.
Glover took his fourth wicket and Ben Hunt was brought back and had dangerman Thompson brilliantly caught on the boundary by Murdoch.
With 10 needed to win and seven overs left, Park seemed to be out of it when they dropped three catches in seven balls.
But Hunt struck twice and when Glover clean bowled the last batsman, Park had won an amazing game.
